Exploring African History and Heritage

In celebrating the Year of History and Heritage 2017, this project provides spaces within which young people of African descent can explore their roots, share their findings and contribute to wider appreciation of the contribution people of African descent have made to Scotland.
The aim is to develop meaningful identities that enable them to function effectively in a multicultural society.

This project is funded by:

In celebrating the Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology, come and join us on a journey to explore our history and heritage. Together we will provide spaces in which young people can explore their roots and appreciate the contribution Africans have made to Scotland.
Being brought up surrounded by the Scottish culture, their understanding and appreciation of the African culture is limited to and exclusively their parents. This can leave a tainted appreciation of their cultural values and is not helped by the stereotypes and challenges they experience on a day to day basis.
The aim is to develop meaningful identities that enable them to function effectively in a multicultural society.

Lunch will be provided and there will be sufficient time for networking.

Spaces are limited so please register here now.
